This is a ten-winter window, not the full record. For earlier storms, the National Weather Service New York office keeps longer histories. The late-January 2026 storm measured 11.4 in at Central Park, covered in the January 24-26, 2026 recap. For the latest winter across major cities, see winter 2025-26 snowfall totals by city.
Why New York snowfall varies across the metro
Storm to storm, the coast and the inland suburbs of the New York area can trade places. In the January 25-26, 2026 storm, NWS New York reported that warmer air 7,000 to 10,000 feet up changed snow to sleet across Long Island and the city, and snow and sleet totals ran 8 to 13 inches near the coast and 12 to 17 inches inland. Central Park measured 11.4 inches.
The pattern did not repeat a month later. In the February 22-23, 2026 blizzard, NWS New York listed 19.7 inches in Central Park, the lowest of the Manhattan reports, which ran up to 22.8. Reports in Suffolk County on Long Island ran from 15.0 to 31.0 inches, while inland Passaic County, New Jersey, ran from 14.0 to 18.5.
Central Park is one site in the middle of Manhattan. Its record describes the winter in the city well and a given borough or suburb only roughly.

About these numbers
All station totals come from the official National Weather Service record for Central Park, read through the NOAA Regional Climate Centers ACIS database and checked against a second official source, the National Weather Service daily climate reports or the NOAA NCEI daily archive. Where the preliminary climate report and the final archive differ by a few tenths on one day, this page uses the final archive. They are totals at one station. They are not an estimate for an address, and they are not a certified copy of the record. For certified copies, NOAA NCEI sells them through its data certification service.
